Our client, a company specializing in multimedia entertainment, is looking to recruit an international tax advisor to join a dynamic and motivated team.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the accounting provisions for income taxes payable;
  • Interpret year-end audit files;
  • Contribute to the annual audit of external auditors regarding the amounts of taxes and fees appearing in the financial statements of the company and its subsidiaries;
  • Produce any other forms for a group with an international scope, such as T106, T1134, NR and T5;
  • Prepare instalments on a quarterly basis;
  • Follow up on tax notification from federal and provincial revenue departments;
  • Participate in the income tax audits of various government authorities;
  • Monitor foreign countries' tax deductions;
  • Lead the preparation and filing of tax returns for the company and its foreign subsidiaries in the different countries where it operates;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable consumer tax laws for the company and its foreign subsidiaries;
  • Make the transfer price calculations between the company and its subsidiaries;
  • Analyse the tax risks related to customer and supplier contracts, negotiate and review the drafting of tax clauses, working with legal teams and project teams to anticipate and minimise tax impacts;
  • Participate in the development, implementation and optimization of international tax strategies in collaboration with local, international teams;
  • Conduct the necessary tax research and analysis to identify issues, facts, laws and tax consequences of various business transactions;
  • To be informed of legislative and regulatory developments in tax matters, and assess their impact on our operations;
  • Provide tax advice to internal teams regarding transactions, restructurings and other business initiatives;
  • Develop tax analyses and reports for management to support strategic decision making.

Requirements

  • Degree in taxation, law, accounting, finance or related field;
  • Diploma of 2nd cycle in taxation or equivalent;
  • Master’s degree in taxation or advanced courses in ICCA or equivalent (asset) obtained or in progress;
  • Specialization in international taxation (asset);
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a firm or industry (ideally within a consulting firm or multinational);
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian and international tax regulations, as well as tax treaties;
  • Mastering transfer pricing standards, transaction taxation and global tax compliance;
  • Tax research and analysis skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex tax regulations;
  • Good knowledge of software for tax returns and forms, such as Taxprep Corporate and Taxprep Forms;
  • Oral and written bilingualism (English clients);
  • Excellent command of office tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Strong communication skills and team-working skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment;
