The Different Professionals in the Sector

In real estate, we focus on the organization that ranges from executives to portfolio managers, including real estate consultants.All these different roles are crucial in advancing the real estate process. In the executive/corporate sector, we find professions in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, and Communication & Marketing. Asset managers are more likely to be Paralegals, Lease Administrators, and Accountants specialized in real estate.

In 2018, there were 16,500 licensed market intermediaries with the OACIQ (Organisme d'Autoréglementation du Courtage Immobilier du Québec). Around 2,000 new candidates register with this organization each year.

It should also be noted that in 2018, mortgage brokerage was transferred to the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers), and the titles of Real Estate Agent and Broker remain protected.

Acting as a middleman between buyer and seller, the role of the Real Estate Agent has expanded to become a full-service provider, capable of handling all the necessary tasks on behalf of clients: finding specialists in diagnostics, financing plans, administrative and regulatory procedures.
The Real Estate Manager also plays a very important role, as they are responsible for leasing, construction, as well as administrative, financial, and technical management.

The title of Real Estate Consultant is not officially recognized—it is mostly used by certified appraisal firms. They often provide cost consultation, evaluate market value, taxes, etc.
Currently, there are approximately 1,000 professionals distributed across firms, companies, and institutional settings.
