As a mother of two young children, a homemaker, a wife, and a human being, I find myself wanting to do it all and succeed at everything. Here’s a brief glimpse into how I manage to maintain balance and happiness in my life choices!
We Need Work-Life Balance
In today’s world, with modern technology, I often wonder where the boundary lies between work and personal life. I recently shifted my career focus in favor of my family.
A mother is often torn between her career and her family. I have experienced this firsthand—I left a career I was passionate about and an industry where I thrived. It was a scary and uncertain time, but the positive aspects of my new role allowed me to succeed in my family life, giving me the confidence I need today to succeed in my career.
A Few Organization Tips
As a full-time working mom, I have divided my life into two main areas: work and home.
At work, I give my all! This way, I don’t have to respond to emails and calls during my free time (that’s what voicemail is for).
At home, my time is divided between enjoying my children, managing the household, cooking for the week, and spending time with family and friends. Planning plays a crucial role in my success and happiness. I try to make the most mundane tasks, like grocery shopping, fun for the kids since neither my husband nor I get to see them much during the week.
Here’s how I organize my week:
– Friday night: I plan the weekend with my husband.
– Saturday: I take care of the essentials—grocery shopping and cleaning. I try to involve the kids and turn it into a game. The evening is dedicated to my husband!
– Sunday: We have fun and relax as a family… it’s also meal prep time for the week.
– Weekdays: I leave the house every morning at 6:30 AM and return at 5:30 PM. Thanks to weekend meal prep, dinner is ready, allowing us to eat together as a family and enjoy the evening. We have a routine, and we will likely stick to it for the next ten years.
I made the choice to have children and to be a working mom.
And it works! As long as you stick to a well-organized routine. I have never felt guilty about leaving my children to go to work.
You Can Have It All—But There Will Be Sacrifices
The key is to find what works best for you!
However, just because this method works for me doesn’t mean it will work for everyone. The goal is to find the right balance. Happiness at work leads to happiness in life—that’s the main takeaway from this article!
